French Black Copper Maran
Originating in the port town of Marans, France, this breed was developed in the 19th century by crossing local barnyard birds with game fowl. Over time, they became prized across Europe for their dark, rich eggs—so much so that French chefs still call them the “chocolate egg chicken.” Their popularity quickly spread worldwide, and today, they’re a favorite for both backyard flocks and poultry shows.
Midnight Legbar
The Midnight Legbar is a developing project here at Parcell Farms, created by crossing our Ayam Cemani rooster over Cream Legbar hens. Our goal is to develop a unique line that combines the dark pigmentation and striking appearance of the Ayam Cemani with some of our favorite characteristics of the Cream Legbar.

With their stylish mix-and-match feathers and their signature olive green eggs, Olive Eggers are the backyard chickens you never knew you needed. Part mystery, part magic, and 100% charm, these quirky ladies bring personality and earthy-toned treasures to your egg basket.
History:
Olive Eggers aren’t a standardized breed, but a hybrid created by crossing a dark brown egg-layer with a blue egg-layer. At Parcell Farms, most of our Olive Eggers are F1 (first generation)—a blue-egg gene carrier paired with a Dark Brown Egg Layer. We also work with select multi-generational and backcrossed Olive Egger lines. This deepened genetic pairing enhances the variety of green tones possible—from bright sage to dark moss—and can also produce the occasional brown or brown-tinted egg, depending on how the blue and brown shell genes combine.
